1st Place 4x4 Challenge
The 4 x 4 Challenge is a yearly hackathon that is hosted by Conestoga college. This event involves a team of 4 individuals who have 4 days to provide a solution to an issue. This year's theme was Sustainable and Digital Tourism. This means a solution was needed that would help the world deal with the realities of tourism in a digital age.
We created Turi — a trip planning application that manages tourist traffic around a city by predicting peak times and suggesting alternative itineraries to travelers. The idea is that Turi helps cities reduce the effects of overtourism by distributing tourists throughout the city and stimulates economies by redirecting them to lesser-known local establishments. Another key factor is how Turi can help those local establishments by turning their peak busy hours into a constant flow of traffic.
